Elana Drell-Szyfer, Lisa Price Honored at the March of Dimes' Annual Spirit of Beauty Luncheon
May 11, 2015 - The annual March of Dimes Spirit of Beauty luncheon raised $48,000 on Monday at Cipriani 42nd Street. The event honored Elana Drell-Szyfer, chief executive officer of Laura Geller Beauty and Lisa Price, founder of Carol's Daughter.
The honorees were chosen by the Spirit of Beauty Luncheon committee due to their leadership in the industry and charitable contributions.
Additionally, Sheila Rosenblum, owner of Lady Sheila Stable, and her daughter Kara Rosenblum received the Volunteer Par Excellence Award.
Kicking off the afternoon, Cheryl Kramer Kaye, executive beauty director of Shape magazine and member of the Spirit of Beauty Committee, told a powerful story about giving birth to her twins, Jacob and Benjamin, five weeks early.
"Jacob and Benjamin are now five and three-quarters, and in their mother's eyes, they're perfect in every way," said Kramer Kaye. "They are strong, they are kind, they are smart, they are healthy and they are happy, and I'm so lucky to be their mommy."
Meanwhile Nancy McKay, ceo of Nest Fragrances, presented Drell-Syzfer with her award.
"Thank you to the March of Dimes for the honor of this recognition," said Drell-Syzfer. "Luckily for me, I am not your target audience. I am the mother of three healthy daughters all conceived and delivered with the efficiency of a Microsoft Outlook Calendar invite, and that's not a joke. All parents can understand that universal inherent need to protect and defend their child and the fierce desire to help them with their struggle in the world. To the committee and the March of Dimes, I am in awe of your work and I salute the magnitude of initiatives that you support."
Price was honored next and admitted to being a bit nervous, but the audience would never know by her profound speech.
"With the donations made today maybe the dads will have some support as well, and the grandparents who don't know what to do and the siblings that don't understand that weird-looking thing in the incubator is their brother or sister because they're kids and they don't get it," said Price after being presented with the award by Mindy Grossman, ceo of HSN Inc. "We have to support these families and take care of them and help them to be strong."
